St. Edburg’s Heritage Open Days 2018
“Opening our Doors”
Saturday September 8th – The Extraordinary Women of Bicester
2018 marks the 100th Anniversary of the Universal Suffrage Act, when (some) women finally gained the right to vote. “Extraordinary Women” is the theme for the national Heritage Open Days this year and St. Edburg’s Open Day will commemorate the women of Bicester who have changed lives for the better in both large and small ways over time. Our plan is to invite local community groups to celebrate the extraordinary women of our town, past and present, who deserve recognition. Does the group you belong to have a woman you could nominate and perhaps do some research on? Would your group enjoy setting up a small display about that woman and your group as it is today? Are there other Bicester women you could nominate? These women may have achieved greatness in their field – or simply have been a wonderful and supportive neighbour.
Women whose stories have never been told – until now
Over the coming weeks and months we would love to hear from you. Letters of invitation will be going out soon, but anyone can contribute to the day. We look forward to hearing from you.
THIS WILL BE A FREE EVENT
